Quilt Loving

So I am loving quilts these days.  I have a few in progress including one for Denise that I am hoping to finish any day now for a house warming present. One for my mom that was a christmas present like two years ago (oops)- the top is pieced, so I don't know what my problem is.   And a third one that I just started for Samarah so that I could follow this quilt-a-long.

But what I am really itching to take part in is an online quilting bee like this and this.

You can read all about online quilting bees here.  All of the quilting bees that I've found though are full :(  so that leaves me to start my own (intimidating) or wait until another one opens up.

Does anyone else want to start a quilting bee but is without a group?

I've missed...

Wow.  It has been such a long time.  I didn't think so much time has past since I gave up my blog, but apparently it has been longer than a year.

So much has happened since then, but I won't bore you with the details.  I miss blogging.  I like being able to look back and see what I've done, and the blogs out there are so amazing these days.  It seems a shame to lurk and not contribute, so I am back.

Moving Forward....

...One Stitch at a Time

Time brings change,
unpredictable change.
And with blind faith,
we move forward
integrating life's many lessons.
As summer's heat gave way
to the wayward winds
of winter,
hesitancy yields to frustration,
born from the uncertainties
of the future.

And Still,
time brings change,
unpredictable change.
And in silence,
we wait,
incorporating love's many revelations.
As winter's winds give way
to the bountiful beauty
of spring,
frustration yields to optimism,
despite the uncertainties
of the future.

I'm Having an Affair

My goodness sex...I mean spinning is fun!! Seriously, I could do this for like, I don't know.... six hours at a time!! I love how soft, and sensual it is. And the love, man the love. I can't get over it. Mix it with some nacho's, chocalate almond, and some size sixteen's for the bottom (18's for the top of course) and I am good to go.

A Testimony to All that is Good

The smile of a child.

It helps that they are sitting on the Quilt I made for sweet Olivia (right). My littlest cousins, Elizabeth, & Olivia, oh, how I love thee.

Homemade Yogurt

So, for the past week I have been torturing Alicia with my slightly obsessive dreams of homemade yogurt. Not the frozen kind, but real, from scratch yogurt.  Well, yesterday my yogurt maker finally arrived!!!  I spent a couple of hours preparing the milk mixture, and then it takes about 10 hours for it to set.  The yogurt maker is essentially a low heat base with seven glass jars, and a lid.  I stayed up to 1 am for it to finnish.  Boy was it worth it!!!  I just made plain, since that is what we mostly eat, but it was so creamy, I could have ate the whole batch.  I restrained myself, and, instead, I made a big batch of lentil soup for lunch, and we had yogurt on top.  It could be a coincidence, but it was the best lentil soup I have ever made!!  Yum.  Now I can torture Alicia with obsessive thoughts of different flavor combos!  Don't they just look yummy?

William's Finished Quilt

Well, I was able to finish Williams Quilt on time! I worked all night last Sunday night, then as soon as I came home on Monday I worked until it was finished. It was a good thing because he was able to leave the hospital shortly after that!!! He is home and doing well for all of you who are interested.....

This is the front view.

This is the view of the back with the front folded down.

Quilt for William

So, as some of you already know, one of the little boys that I watch became seriously ill this past week, and, as a result, has been in the ICU since then.  William is getting better everyday, and hopefully will be able to come home by the end of next week.  A link on his progress is listed under the "links I like."  I have made it my goal to make him a quilt by the end of this Tuesday so that he can have it before then.  Just thought maybe you would all like to see...  I'll let you know if I make it.
